Best money spent in a while ,these disc's really bring magic underneath my Turntable.
What surprised me the most was when I listened to a recording of a guitar and vocals, the vocals were singing in my head, but the guitar was right in front of me. The vocals were singing in my head, but the guitar was right in front of me. It may move a little to the left or right, depending on the song, but it is always in front of you. I could never hear it like this with the same headphones.
Another surprise was that a pair of headphones that I liked but had grown somewhat old and often had to be replaced by newer models, sounded completely different and fresh. I also tried listening to a variety of other headphones that I have on hand, and it was a real pleasure to hear them all sound different from the way they used to. The headphone amp I already own is a good, well-reasoned product that I like and trust, but I also thought it could be a reference in a completely different way.
I have no complaints at all with the current unbalanced amp; in fact, I would run away barefoot from a balanced amp of that caliber. Before talking about balance, I think that this sound is probably unique. I have heard million-class headphone amplifiers at events, but there is no comparison. However, that being said, I can't help but wonder what it would sound like if it were balanced. The other two models (HDA-5520MK2, SCL CAP-1003) also sound great, as long as you listen to them alone, but they are overshadowed when you listen to 5230. I tried the 5230 with a clean power supply that I had on hand and thought it would be even better.
I was surprised in another way that this 5230 has not been talked about at all, and even when I searched the Internet, I could not find even decent information about it, except for your store and the original site. Maybe I'm not doing a good job of searching. It is very difficult to describe this sound in words. The expressions often used in reviews of audio equipment are not good enough.
When the DL-103D arrived, I tried the ANDRES SEGOVIA GOLD DISC, which I always listen to. I found a surprising difference in the following points:
Sound clarity: I got a crisper, clearer sound.
Guitar contours: I could hear the contours of the guitar as an instrument more clearly.
Reverberation Length: The fading reverberation of each note is longer and deeper.
Overall softness: The overall sound is very soft and pleasant to listen to.
The DL-103D was created with a soundly sounding idea in principle, and it has achieved exactly what it set out to do. I have prepared a number of records that I want to continue listening to later today.♪
Impressions after replacing the DL-103R
After about a month had passed, I replaced it with a nearly new DL-103R. I could feel the change in the following points:
Wide range extension: better extension into the wide range and a more slender sound quality.
Low to midrange image: The sound image in the low to midrange has become fatter while maintaining the precision of the sound.
Genre differences: Jazz, in particular, has become much more interesting. The sound has changed to a slightly Ortofon-like sound, and you can enjoy the difference in sound depending on the genre.
In this way, I enjoy the difference in sound depending on the system configuration.
