Bringing out the charm of the sound of the WE pentapod tube
Designed with the assumption that two Western 408A pentapod tubes will be used.
The vacuum tube is Western Electric's high-performance pentapod tube WE408A. A resistor was loaded onto the output of the DA converter and directly connected to the input part of the vacuum tube, resulting in a single feedback amplifier with a single stage configuration. Current to the screen grid, which greatly affects sound quality, is supplied through a constant current circuit made of MOS FETs, improving the purity of the sound. The heater circuit is a large Schottky diode and is rectified both waves and supplies the left and right sides independently. The design policy uses a method of reducing the number of elements used to the extreme, and has been designed to simplify the circuit and maximize the purity of the sound.
PCM1794A is configured as a DA converter IC
The output of the PCM1794A DA converter IC is in a mono configuration and has four output units for operating output, but only one of them is used, and the other terminals are not used with dummy resistors added. It may seem like a waste at first glance, but the sound is more pure than parallel connections.
By supplying it from a separate regulator circuit, it eliminates interference from the circuit due to the power supply
The power transformer uses a large capacity toroidal transformer, and the analog and digital windings are independent, reducing interference between each other. The transformer is a careful power supply circuit that is independently used for the digital, analog, and output circuits, and is supplied from individual regulators. The wiring material is made of Teflon insulation and silver-plated copper wire, which are extremely reliable and have excellent sound quality.

I would like to believe that the reason why we deliberately used the WE408A ball on this machine to characterize it is not just a simple tube-like flavor, but rather the intention to actively reflect the pentapole tube. For example, the amount of information and range of high frequencies is the transistor specification.YDA-01It can be said that there is more abundant. However, on the other hand, I think the vacuum tube's strengths are fully drawn out by its thickness in the low range and the calm energy balance at the waist. In particular, the thick tone, which has power in the low range, may be largely due to the WE ball.
Listening to jazz makes it easier to understand the difference. The wood base's unblemished touch and pitch depth remain the same, but the sound is a little thicker and the slender sound of the body feels thick. The same can also be said for the sound of the piano and the explosive power of the kick drum. It gives a kind of contrasting impression. Even in orchestras, the heavy sound of the bass strings lowers the center of gravity, and the string instruments and woodwinds provide a rich, rich, glossy, sharp finish.YDA-01This contrasts with the delicate softness of the product, with its explosive crispness and clarity of strength and weakness.
