Straight type horn that spreads most naturally
Yamamoto Sound Craft The straight type wood horn SS-500 is a high-performance horn that combines the wide sound field and ease of use of a square radial horn while maintaining the natural goodness of a circular straight horn. Its precise design maximizes the performance of the driver unit and achieves an extremely natural sound spread.

Beautiful sound made from extremely thick Asada cherry laminated wood
- Material selection and processing: The material of the horn is Asada Sakura laminated wood, which has a good sound quality. The horn is manufactured by cutting into a three-dimensional curved shape from an extremely thick block with a thickness of **100mm**. This luxurious construction method provides an extremely smooth frequency response and beautiful resonance.
- Natural directionality: The directivity is **70 degrees horizontally and 30 degrees vertically**, and has a shape and design that spreads naturally, allowing the sound to spread smoothly without concentrating energy in a specific band.

Vibration suppression and low-frequency crossover support
- Low frequency crossover: The cutoff frequency is as low as **500Hz. The recommended crossover frequency can be set as low as 800Hz**, ensuring sufficient frequency response to the mid-bass range and allowing a natural connection with the woofer.

- gunmetal castingthroatAdapter: The connection part between the driver and the horn is made of gunmetal casting.throatUse adapter. When in use, setting bases are placed on both sides of the horn for three-point support, which concentrates the weight of the driver and horn on that point, suppressing vibration. This greatly reduces disturbance and interference in the mid-bass range.

High compatibility and ease of integration
- Wide compatibility: 1 inchthroatDiameter: TAD 2001, JBL 2425, ALTEC 1 inchthroatCompatible with both Altic and JBL types of mounting screws, such as driver units.
- Incorporation into the enclosure: By drilling a pilot hole in the mounting flange and attaching it with wood screws, it can also be incorporated into an enclosure.

Rich Resonance and Smooth Continuity
"Unbelievably natural and smooth sound for a horn."
The key feature of the SS-500 is that it has almost no horn coloration, providing extremely smooth and natural sound continuity. Especially, the smooth frequency response achieved through the carved thick Asada cherry laminated wood is free from the "harshness" or "rigidness" often associated with conventional horns, reproducing rich and easy-to-listen-to mid to high frequencies.
"Clear and undistorted mid-low frequencies due to the vibration control mechanism."
Gunmetal CastingthroatThe three-point vibration control mechanism using an adapter is highly effective. By suppressing unnecessary vibrations and resonance at the driver-horn junction, disturbances and interference in the mid-low frequency range are greatly reduced, resulting in extremely clear continuity between the horn and the woofer range.
"High versatility capable of crossover from low frequencies."
With a low cutoff frequency of 500Hz and a practical recommended crossover frequency set at 800Hz, it can handle crossovers from relatively lower frequency ranges, which was difficult for conventional horns. This allows compatibility with larger woofer units and offers more options in network design, enhancing system versatility.
