Plate-type Magnetic Floating Base

Description

Non-contact floating via magnetic repulsion. An audio board that improves sound quality beyond expectations.

The MGB-60 combines beautifully resonant Asada cherry laminated wood with sturdy African ebony, floating the board itself through the repulsive force of neodymium magnets. It supports relatively heavy equipment weighing 5–30 kg, such as power amplifiers, large CD players, and turntables.

Vibration Isolation Mechanism

While conventional audio boards reduce vibration, this device blocks vibration through the following mechanism:

  • Floating Principle: Neodymium magnets positioned at six points underneath allow the audio equipment to float almost contactlessly.
  • Vibration Isolation: It eliminates not only vibrations from the floor but also resonances from the audio equipment itself and reflected vibrations within the casing, absorbing micro-vibrations that affect the circuitry.

Floating types are most effective for equipment with strong internal vibrations, such as amplifiers.

Recommended Usage

"Using a spike base between the amplifier and the board further enhances sound quality."

Placing a spike base between the board and equipment like an amplifier produces more powerful and vivid sound, further enhancing sound quality improvements.

Review

Dramatic Improvement in Soundstage and Clarity

"The overall noise of the system drops, and the background becomes quietly serene."

The moment I switched my rack to the OS series, the first thing that surprised me was the "tranquility". By absorbing vibrations from the outside and micro-vibrations of the equipment itself, the noise floor is significantly lowered, and the signal-to-noise is greatly improved. The air in the sound field feels clear, making it easier to see the outline of the space.

"The amount of information increases, and the localization and resolution go up a notch."

The sound image is properly focused, and there is a feeling that the focus is tightened. Changes in the position and depth of instruments are more clear, and the view of the stage is improved. Even the shadows of the details emerge naturally, which strengthens the presence of the music as a whole.

"The sound disappears and the transparency increases significantly."

Perhaps because the microscopic vibrations are removed, the overall tone is surprisingly soft and clear, as if the turbidity has been removed. The details are delicate and detailed, and the aftertaste stretches smoothly and finely. I wondered if this was the reason why the "purity" of sound increased.

Low and high frequencies improved

"The low frequencies become deeper and more powerful, while the high frequencies are open and stretched."

The quality of the entire band is so good that I wonder if a single rack can change so much. The bass not only has a sense of volume, but also deepens the sinking, and the contours are not broken. The high frequencies have better cut and stretch naturally. As a result, it feels like the range has expanded a step.

"The bulge in the mid and low frequencies naturally fits and the response is aligned."

The vibration damping effect of the OS series is especially effective in the mid and low frequencies. The staggering and bulge are absorbed and the reaction is uniform. As the sound rises and converges, the low-frequency rhythm becomes tighter and the entire music begins to flow lightly.
