Improved S/N ratio for richer detail

A setup base that blocks vibrations using magnetic force

Description

The combined effect of neodymium magnets and ceramic spacers enables clear and vivid sound reproduction.

The MGB-1 is an innovative audio base that floats the equipment using the repulsive force of magnets. It uses highly damping African ebony, which produces beautifully resonant tones, and the strongest holding neodymium magnets, making it suitable for relatively heavy equipment.

Vibration Blocking Mechanism

  • Floating Principle: The repulsive force of the magnets lifts the equipment, minimizing vibrations from the floor and greatly reducing impact from speaker vibrations.
  • Composite Support Structure: The MGB-1 combines three-point ceramic spacers on the top and bottom surfaces of the base. This ensures point support for the equipment placed on top, resulting in even clearer sound reproduction.
  • Preventing Sound Degradation: It prevents sound degradation caused by vibration and resonance.

Sound Quality Improvement Effects

  • Improved S/N Ratio: Reducing noise improves the **S/N ratio**, resulting in richer sound details.
  • Enhanced Presence: The sound becomes clearer, increasing the overall presence.

Spec
Dimensions: Diameter: 59mm, Height: 58.8mm ~ 47mm
Material: African ebony, neodymium magnets, ceramic spacers
Load Capacity: 2kg to 10kg per unit
Weight: 210g (per unit)

Usage Precautions

  • Even Load: Ensure the weight on each base is evenly distributed.
  • Magnetic Influence: Since this product uses magnets, be cautious when using it with items sensitive to magnetic fields (e.g., MC cartridge step-up transformers, cassette decks, etc.).
Review

Enhanced quality of silence through vibration blocking

“Just placing it changes the 'air.'” The first thing I noticed when using the MGB-1 was its quietness. I was skeptical about the structure, which uses neodymium magnets to levitate and support devices, but when I placed it under a CD player or analog equipment, I could immediately feel vibrations from the floor or rack disappear, and the background seemed to deepen and become calmer.

Changes in soundstage and detail

I didn’t expect the way sound is perceived to change so much just by quieting the background. The focus of the sound image tightens, and subtle nuances become clear. On piano, the touch of the keys stands out vividly, and in a cappella, overlapping voices sound more natural and three-dimensional. There are moments that make you think, “Have these previously buried sounds always been there?”

Improvement in low and high frequencies

The low end becomes tighter with less boom and clearer definition. The high end becomes smoother and more extended, more transparent without being piercing to the ears. Listening to an orchestra, the muddiness during tutti passages disappears, and the sound spreads in space without layering. When used with a CD player, the improvement in S/N ratio is particularly noticeable, giving the impression that the very atmosphere of the room has changed.

Feel and compatibility

Structurally, the device is slightly lifted, but it remains stable and safe to use. The effect is evident not only with vibration-sensitive analog players but also with CD players, integrated amps, and many other types of equipment. Unlike extensive tuning processes, sound changes simply by placing it, making it easy to adopt.
