Lightest camellia wood head shell
lightest headshell
HS-7 is a wooden head shell made from domestic camellia wood, which is a rare and excellent material. Camellia wood has a specific gravity of 0.7, which is much lighter than ebony, and yet the wood grain is very fine and homogeneous, giving it excellent characteristics. With a weight of 8.1g (not including mounting screws), it is one of the lightest headshells among all headshells.
Generally speaking, the lighter the tone arm of a record player is, including the cartridge and headshell, the higher its operational sensitivity will be. In the case of HS-7, we recommend that you take advantage of its light weight and use it as a light vibration system. By lowering the mass of the head shell, you can enjoy a different and lighter sound from the same cartridge.
The surface of HS-7 is treated with clear eco-paint, giving it a natural appearance with wood grains that gives it a unique appeal. The finger rest is made of brass and is gold plated. Since the wood itself does not produce a unique resonance sound, there is almost no noise when you put your fingers on it, which is a problem with metal shells.
