The AT-03-1A is an attenuator unit that achieves a soft, warm tone in addition to the overwhelming amount of information and vividness in the high frequencies typical of passive attenuators. Fewer circuits pass through the music signal to improve the freshness of the sound, resulting in a light, delicate, bright and pleasant sound.
L-shaped 28-step high-precision volume adjustment
- L-Pad Circuit: The attenuator part adopts an L-shaped** volume adjustment function that switches the 28-point resistor with a switch. It only requires two resistors to enter the signal source, minimizing the sound quality degradation caused by the resistors.
- High-precision left-right balance: It succeeds in limiting the left and right level deviation, which is a weak point of continuous volume, to less than 0.2dB.
- Fine Step Adjustments:It can be adjusted from 0dB to −38dB in 2dB steps for fine volume adjustments.The minimum volume can be reduced to -65dB and can be adjusted to any level.
- Impedance: It has an impedance of **50kΩ** that can be connected to any device.
Carefully selected materials of the highest quality
- Resistors (made by DALE): The resistor in the volume control section uses a 1W type surface-mount resistor made by DALE in the United States, which was selected after listening to the audio. The use of surface mount resistors ensures that there is almost no loss due to passing resistors or noise when switching contacts.
- Switches (made by Seiden): The volume control switch uses the well-established 45SD type** made by Seiden Co., Ltd., which provides high reliability and excellent usability.
- Internal wiring (6N copper solid): All internal wiring uses **1.2mm diameter high-purity 6N copper single wires. The wires are encased in the most insulating Teflon tubes** to maximize sound quality.
Simple single input and output system
System Compatibility: Unlike the AT−03−3A, this model focuses solely on one input and one output, eliminating the input selector switch to pursue simplicity and the shortest possible signal path.

The extremely simple configuration contributes to a light, smooth sound impression. However, the tone and range are consistent with other Yamamoto Audio products, offering a soft, warm, mid-centered gentle sound. Pianos have a rounded resonance that conveys the warmth of wood, and similarly, violins and classical guitars produce a woody, warm timbre. Timpani and bass maintain a moderate firmness and sustain without sounding overly heavy, delivering a light, lively tone. When playing natural sounds, the details of waves, bird songs, and the cry of cicadas are finely rendered, yet the overall sound remains pleasantly smooth. The perceived volume is slightly lower compared to Amtrans or Phasemation.
