Yamamoto Sound Craft AL-2 Turntable Tonearm Lifter Unit

The AL-2 is an arm lifter unit that uses a large 16mm diameter hydraulic cylinder. The sleeve for mounting is made of African ebony. By operating the relatively large lever, you can smoothly lift and lower the tonearm. When lifting, the arm rises quickly, while when lowering, it gently descends thanks to the hydraulic system. It is ideal for tonearms that do not come with a lifter or for players where the lifter is malfunctioning.

Manually lifting and lowering the arm can scratch your records or damage your stylus. Using an arm lifter prevents such problems. The AL-2 lifter unit can also be placed separately, making it compatible with most turntables. Please see the diagram below for usage instructions.

First, place a record on the turntable and attach your cartridge to the tonearm. Bring the stylus to the innermost groove of the record. Install the lifter so that the operational range covers the record as shown in the diagram below. Adjust the height using the included hex wrench on the height adjustment screw so that the stylus is 5–10mm above the record when the lift lever is raised. The lifter portion does not bear much force, so you do not need to tighten the height adjustment screw too much. Since the sleeve is made of ebony, overtightening may cause damage, so please be careful.
Once the position and height of the lifter unit are determined, secure it with the included tapping screws or bolts. Double-sided tape can also be used, but be aware that it may not come off cleanly when removed.

Height adjustment is done at the lower part of the arm pipe, and it can be adjusted from 39mm to 53mm from the player board. Please check the height of your turntable's arm before purchasing.
