Yamamoto Sound Craft 6N Copper Annealed Single-Strand Wire Shell Lead YR-03

The YR-03 is a high-quality head shell lead wire made with high-purity 6N copper annealed single-strand wire. Annealing relieves stress inside the copper wire and aligns the molecular structure to improve conductivity. This results in a sound quality that is rich in detail while remaining smooth.

Unlike standard stranded wires, which are processed continuously and tend to be stiff and less favorable in terms of sound quality, the YR-03 uses a single wire with a diameter of 0.6 mm. Compared to stranded wire, it produces a more focused sound, fully bringing out the potential of the cartridge.

For insulation, we use Teflon, known for its excellent electrical properties. The terminals feature high-precision connectors equivalent to our YRT-01, with a 1.0-micron thick gold plating applied over a non-magnetic base. The precision design—1.0 mm diameter on the arm side and 1.2 mm diameter on the cartridge side—minimizes contact resistance and ensures lossless transmission. Additionally, the connections are soldered using high-quality lead-free solder, rather than crimping, for secure bonding.

It goes without saying that the quality of shell leads directly affects sound quality. The YR-03 faithfully conveys the energy of the cartridge, delivering a powerful and tight sound.
