YS-500 is a 2WAY speaker system composed mainly of Woodhorn SS-500. The speaker unit uses a 38cm diameter woofer and a 1 inch slot horn driver unit. Both units employ neodymium magnets to achieve high-efficiency conversion efficiency of 98dB/W/1m with powerful magnetic circuits. This good sensitivity is a big attraction that a vacuum tube amplifier with only 1-2W output can obtain sufficient sound pressure. The frequency characteristics are 35Hz to 18,000Hz, the crossover frequency is 1,200Hz, and the impedance is 8Ω, making it easy to use in both vacuum tube amplifiers and transistor amplifiers. Adopt rear open enclosure to take over the good of flat baffle

The YS-500 enclosure has a rear and bottom open system. The flat baffle system features sound that is lively and responsive.
This rear open enclosure can be used in a relatively small footprint while utilizing the advantages of the planar baffle system. The YS-500 is designed to achieve the same characteristics as the 1mx1m size of the planar baffle with a size of 460mm left and right and 560mm deep. Therefore, the system features a clear sound with moderate frequency characteristics and a dynamic feeling. The enclosure combines cherry blossom ingredients with good sound quality, and the connection part is reinforced solid material of Asada cherry. The network adopts a 6dB/oct method with superior phase characteristics

The crossover network adopts a 6dB/oct type with excellent phase characteristics. This is because natural units are connected and their phase characteristics are excellent. The network circuit consists of only three parts, including the attenuator part for level adjustment, by selecting high-performance parts to maximize their quality. The filter coils are made of copper foil coils with 100W capacity cut cores, and the condensers are enclosed with Dearborn's polypropylene capacitors in ebony cases. The speaker terminal adopts a large terminal with pure copper shaving, and the sound quality measures are perfect.

A brass angle is used for reinforcing the magnetic circuit on the back of the woofer unit. This reduces the effect of the reaction of the drive part of the woofer unit and helps improve the sound quality of the bass range. The legs are made of African ebony, and with this leg the enclosure is lifted about 25mm and the flow of air from the bottom has obtained a natural sound spread.
