The VHA-5240B is a headphone amplifier developed for VR goggles, which now allow easy enjoyment of 3D videos.
By increasing the amount of auditory information and improving accuracy in the world of VR (Virtual Reality), VR viewing can feel more realistic. The VHA-5240B precisely reproduces surround sound with accuracy and without timing delays. It emphasizes the localization of binaural recordings used in VR, with flat phase characteristics, making direction and distance clearly perceptible, thereby adding a greater sense of realism to the virtual world.
Depending on the VR goggle model, some output stereo sound while others output separate mono channels for left and right. To accommodate both types, the VHA-5240B is equipped with both stereo input/output and separate mono input/output for left and right channels. The VHA-5240B assumes usage with goggles that have their own volume control, so it does not have a volume adjustment (gain controller). To prevent induced noise, the case uses carbon-infused conductive filament.
From the virtual world to the real world
The amplifier built into VR goggles can be a burden when using earphones. The heavier the load, the more it negatively affects the sound, causing increased distortion, deterioration of transient response, and longer delay times. The VHA-5240B maximizes information content and improves accuracy by precisely controlling the bias current. Additionally, by widening the bandwidth and using a non-feedback circuit without negative feedback, it eliminates transient distortions such as TIM distortion and reduces time delay to the extreme, removing phase distortion and accurately reproducing surround positioning. By connecting the VHA-5240B to the earphone output of the goggles, it reduces the load when using earphones and prevents deterioration in performance. By omitting the gain controller, the VHA-5240B increases the input impedance 100 times higher than the VHA-5240A. This allows for further improvement in accuracy and an increase in information. It extracts a pure signal without performance degradation and drives earphones with a precise driver circuit. This enables the VR phase and timing information to be reproduced meticulously, making the virtual reality experience feel truly realistic.
