Overwhelming transparency

All vacuum tube buffer preamp

Description

All-stage vacuum tube preamplifiers achieve quadruple gain, low output impedance and very high transparency. Four inputs can be selected, and the volume control by relay switching has a very good balance using a separate resistor. The PRE14 has four RCA phono inputs and two RCA phono outputs. The PRE14B is fully balanced with two series of RCA phono inputs, two series of balance XLR inputs, one series of RCA fono outputs, and one series of balance XLR outputs. All amplifier stages are 100% vacuum tube configurations with OTL (output transless) design. No semiconductor parts, transformers or chalks are used in the audio chain.

Volume and input selection can be controlled by remote control.

Advanced stabilized power supplies (for anodes and heaters) deliver very low levels of ham and noise.

The amplifier consists of three PCBs and the chassis is made of 10mm aluminum, providing excellent mechanical stability and completely eliminating noise caused by vibration.

The PRE14 is very compatible with PA3, PA12, and PA34 OTL power amplifiers and requires high requirements for preamplifiers, especially in order to utilize the low distortion characteristics of PA12 and PA34. PRE14 achieves that goal and does not affect the clear sound of PA12 or PA34. Of course, it is the best choice if you need a very transparent preamplifier in other applications.

PRE14 adopts Q-tron Audio's proprietary 64-step attenuator instead of a common potentiometer to achieve accurate and reliable volume adjustment. High-quality potentiometers exist in the market, but our attenuators eliminate the imbalances between channels caused by potentiometers and provide better performance than any potentiometer.

This attenuator has a 64-step position and allows adjustment in steps per 1dB. Each step is precisely switched using a gold-plated contact relay, and the channel balance has an accuracy that fits within ± 0.05dB in any volume setting. It also boasts the highest 0.02dB of accuracy and maximizes the transparency and dynamics of audio. This design enables smooth and accurate volume adjustment and greatly improves the quality of the audio experience. The 64-step attenuator of Q-tron Audio will be the best choice for audio fans who pursue precision and sound quality that traditional products cannot achieve.

Review

The preamplifier is quite elaborate in design, the front panel has a power switch on the left, the knob narrowed into the Mt. Fuji in the middle and a small display window on the right. This custom knob is shared with the volume and input switch. The volume is a 64-step attenuator, and the input switching is selected from 4 inputs by pressing in. Both inputs or volume volumes are displayed in the panel next to the knob. Input is two pieces of balance and unbalance. The output is also available in both unbalance and balance. Although it is difficult to express the sound quality of the puri, there is a firm feeling in the sound, and even at the time of Fortesimo there is no feeling that the upper side was pressed. In addition, even in complex sounds, each sound does not feel shaken, it is stable, and it was an amplifier that brilliantly broke the existing concept that "a good amplifier would be like this" I thought there is a performance as a high-class machine. He taught me that there are still things I do not know in the world. * See Radio Technology
