Q-tron Audio PRE12B Vacuum Tube Buffer Preamp

The PRE12 is an all-vacuum tube buffered preamplifier with low output impedance and very high transparency, featuring four selectable inputs and a relay-switchable volume control with discrete resistors. All amplification stages are 100% vacuum tube OTL designs, and no semiconductor components, transformers, or chokes are used in the audio configuration.

Volume and input selection can be controlled by remote control.

The PRE12 uses Q-tron Audio's proprietary 64-step attenuator instead of a typical potentiometer for highly accurate and reliable volume control. While there are some good quality potentiometers on the market, our attenuator eliminates the channel-to-channel imbalance that potentiometers cause and provides better performance than any potentiometer.

This attenuator has 64 positions and allows adjustment in 1 dB steps. Each step is precisely switched using relays with gold-plated contacts, and the channel balance is accurate to within ±0.05 dB at any volume setting. It also boasts an extremely high accuracy of up to 0.02 dB, maximizing audio transparency and dynamics.
