Q-tron Audio PRE12B Vacuum Tube Buffer Preamp

PRE12 is an all-vacuum tube buffer preamp with low output impedance and very high transparency. Four selectable inputs and a relay switching volume control consisting of discrete resistors. All amplification stages are OTL designed with a 100% vacuum tube, and no semiconductor parts, transformers, or chalk are used in the audio configuration.

Volume and input selection can be operated by remote control.

Highly stabilized power supplies for anodes and heaters keep ham and noise levels very low. The amplifier consists of three PCBs,- Made of 10mm thick aluminum, it provides excellent mechanical stability and completely eliminates noise caused by vibration.

PRE12 is ideal for combining with PA12 or PA34 OTL power amplifiers. In order to maximize the low distortion performance of PA12 and PA34, preamplifiers also require high demands, but PRE12 meets these goals and does not impair crystal clear sound from PA12 and PA34. Of course, the PRE12 is the best option when other systems require very high transparency preamplifiers.

PRE12 adopts Q-tron Audio's proprietary 64-step attenuator instead of a common potentiometer to achieve accurate and reliable volume adjustment. High-quality potentiometers exist in the market, but our attenuators eliminate the imbalances between channels caused by potentiometers and provide better performance than any potentiometer.

This attenuator has a 64-step position and allows adjustment in steps per 1dB. Each step is precisely switched using a gold-plated contact relay, and the channel balance has an accuracy that fits within ± 0.05dB in any volume setting. It also boasts the highest 0.02dB of accuracy and maximizes the transparency and dynamics of audio.
