MarkAudio NC5H_SS (Single Suspension) Bookshelf Speaker Pair

Design philosophy that allows it to serve as the main speaker even for small sizes

The NC5H_SS is a small yet serious-minded bookshelf speaker developed with the goal of ‘having a presence that allows an 8cm class to function as a main speaker.’ To maximize the potential of the single suspension unit, the enclosure is designed reflecting T/S parameters and MarkAudio’s proprietary data. Through rigorous development processes, including internal damping treatments by Betumen similar to higher-end models, it achieves scale and high-quality reproduction beyond its size.

Synergistic effect of MAOP surface treatment and single suspension

The full-range unit installed adopts a metal cone treated with MAOP (Micro-Arc Oxidation Process), achieving an ideal damping by the metal cone itself, which was previously difficult. This allows an extremely flat frequency response and a quiet, clear sound field expression. Additionally, the unit features a single suspension structure that supports the driving part only with a front suspension, reproducing flexible and fast mid-to-high ranges free from stress caused by dampers. Even when used in near-field settings, natural imaging and smooth texture stand out.

The rectangular coil delivers a glossy sound field

The base Alpair 5v3 is known for its challenging design to ensure linearity without the use of magnetic fluids. In addition, NC5H_SS has developed the expensive rectangle (flat-angle copper wire) voice coil technology used in the MAOP series to achieve a more glossy and dense sound field expression. The total weight of the drive unit is approximately 1.7 g, and the Xmax has a single amplitude of 3.5 mm, which is lightweight and has a generous stroke, achieving both delicacy and dynamics at a high level.

Low-frequency tuning with variable bass reflex port

The bass reflex port adopts the newly designed STBP series and has a 25mm diameter double port configuration, which surprisingly improves the volume and pitch of the low frequencies. The port is adjustable in length to optimize the bass reflex tuning frequency to suit the system and room conditions. The processing technology is as precise as that of reinforced plastic flat bearings for racing yachts, and the port connections are extremely tight, contributing to tight low-frequency regeneration without air leakage.

Solid wood cabinets and craftsman finishes

Based on the concept of the MarkAudio Nature Collection series, the NC5H_SS combines sound beauty with interior quality with cabinets made of selected solid woods such as mahogany and walnut. The meticulous processing and finishing by experienced craftsmen will make it as present as high-end furniture in your living room, enhancing your audio experience with visual satisfaction. The compact dimensions of 160×320×180 mm and the weight of approximately 3 kg allow for flexible installation from desktop to living room, making full use of its capabilities in both near field and listening rooms.
