Designed to be capable as a main speaker even in a small size

The NC5H_SS is a compact yet performance-focused bookshelf speaker developed with the goal of "providing a presence that can serve as a main speaker even in the 8cm class." To maximize the capabilities of the single suspension unit, the enclosure design reflects both T/S parameters and MarkAudio's proprietary data. With internal damping treatments by Betumen and a rigorous development process similar to higher-end models, it achieves a sense of scale and high-quality playback beyond its size.

Synergistic effect of MAOP surface treatment and single suspension

The full-range unit features a metal cone treated with MAOP (Micro-Arc Oxidation Process), achieving ideal damping from the metal cone itself, which was difficult before. This enables extremely flat frequency characteristics and a clear, undistorted sound field. Additionally, the unit uses a single suspension structure supported only by the front suspension, freeing it from damping stress. This reproduces smooth, fast-responding mid-to-high frequencies. Even in near-field usage, it delivers natural imaging and a smooth texture.

A Rich Soundstage Delivered by the Rectangle Coil

The Alpair 5v3, which serves as the base, is known for its challenging design aimed at ensuring linearity without using magnetic fluid. Furthermore, the NC5H_SS advances the expensive rectangular (flat-copper) voice coil technology used in the MAOP series, achieving a richer and denser soundstage. With a total moving mass of approximately 1.7g and an Xmax of 3.5mm single amplitude, the lightweight yet high-stroke design allows for a high level of both delicacy and dynamics.

Low-Frequency Tuning with an Adjustable Bass Reflex Port

The bass reflex port utilizes the newly designed STBP series in a 25mm double-port configuration, dramatically improving low-end volume and pitch accuracy. The port length is adjustable, allowing the bass reflex tuning frequency to be optimized according to the system and room conditions. The manufacturing technology used has precision comparable to reinforced plastic flat bearings for racing yachts, ensuring extremely tight air sealing at the port connections, which contributes to tight, leak-free low-frequency reproduction.

Solid Wood Cabinet and Masterful Finishing

Based on the concept of the MarkAudio Nature Collection series, the NC5H_SS features a cabinet made from carefully selected solid woods such as mahogany and walnut, achieving a balance of beautiful sound and aesthetic appeal. The meticulous craftsmanship and finishing by veteran artisans give the speaker a presence comparable to high-end living room furniture, enhancing the audio experience, including visual satisfaction. Its compact size of 160×320×180mm and weight of approximately 3kg allow for flexible placement from desktop setups to living rooms, fully demonstrating its capabilities in both near-field and larger listening environments.
