A small unit that changes the density of music

A tiny vibrating system that produces surprisingly natural musical expression

Description

The Alpair5v3SS Rectangular is one answer to Markaudio’s long-standing question: 'How delicate can a full-range speaker become?'
Although it fits in the palm of your hand, the moment a note plays, the quality of the air changes. This doesn't mean the volume increases; rather, sounds that were previously inaudible naturally become perceptible.

The Philosophy of Pure Single Suspension

At the heart of the Alpair5 series is the concept of Pure Single Suspension.
In this design, neither dampers nor ferrofluids are used. The only thing resisting the music signal is the air resistance inside the enclosure. As a result, the unit moves extremely freely. From the attack of a plucked string, the subtle vibrations of a singer’s throat, to the humidity of breath touching the lips—human senses notice the difference even before logic intervenes.

Changes Brought by the 3rd Generation Rectangular Voice Coil

The most significant evolution in the v3SS Rectangular is the adoption of a flat rectangular pure copper voice coil.
The previous v2SS used aluminum-deposited copper wire, optimized for extreme lightness. It produced astonishing responsiveness but tended to push energy slightly forward towards the treble. In comparison, flat rectangular pure copper wire is more efficient in electromagnetic driving than round wire of the same cross-section, allowing reduced turns while maintaining sufficient driving force. As a result, it maintains a light MMS of 1.9g while delivering a more natural, smoother tone.
The softness unique to pure copper and the resolution characteristic of the SS structure intersect beautifully here.

The MMS of 1.9g creates both the 'speed' and 'afterglow' of sound.

MMS refers to a numerical value representing the "weight" of the part of the speaker that actually moves to produce sound. The lighter this weight, the more quickly the sound rises and the less unnecessary movement lingers. The MMS of the Alpair5v3SS Rectangular is a mere 1.9g. It is notable that this figure is achieved despite using a metal cone. Being light means being responsive. Being responsive also means that the sound doesn't linger more than necessary. As a result, the attack is clearly pronounced, the resonance is clean, and it naturally fades away. There is no flashiness, but the more you listen, the more a sense of comfort accumulates, and the flow of the music itself seamlessly blends with your body.

Natural Sound Dispersion Created by the Shallow Cone

The Alpair5v3SS Rectangular features a shallow cone shape, characteristic of Markaudio.
While deep, thick cones are advantageous for mass production, increasing the volume often introduces additional tones in the midrange, and the directionality tends to become stronger. Shallow cones are difficult to design and manufacture. Nevertheless, Markaudio continues to choose them because they prioritize natural playback that makes music sound correct no matter where you are in the room.

What You Should Experience is the "Sensation" Not Just the "Sound"

The Alpair5v3SS Rectangular is not a unit that surprises with sheer power or volume.
However, once people experience its delicacy, many cannot go back to anything else. Music can be fully appreciated even at low volumes. This full-range speaker quietly but surely teaches that fact.

T/S parameters are basic figures that indicate how a unit moves and serve as a guideline for enclosure design.
It is the overall balance, rather than the numbers themselves, that determines the character of the sound.
