Offset arm to straight arm
Audio Accessory Excellence Award 2019 Special Prize
The MITCHAKU Z is a headshell designed to be attached to a bent offset arm and achieve the same effect as a straight arm without difficulty.
The swing (orientation) of the headshell can be worn inward or outward depending on the shape of the tonearm and the operating environment.
Technics' SL-1200 series, for example, does not move the arm to the last groove. Also, if you use a stabilizer, you may be hit. In such a case, the cartridge is placed on the inner periphery side.
In order to accommodate various arm angles, the slotted hole for cartridge mounting is made wider, so that the cartridge mounting angle can be fine-tuned.
In the example in the photo, the effective length is 197 millimeters, and the pin side of the cartridge can be firmly pointed at the fulcrum of the arm. This structure is very strong in combination with the MITCHAKU structure because the base and cartridge are simply coupled at a short distance, and at the same time, resonance is less likely to occur. The following is a graph of the recommended underhang calculated from the distance between the center of the turntable and the center of the arm, but it should be about ± 3mm.
The lead wire rod is PCOCCA. The headshell is 4mm thick of hard aluminum. The weight is 16 g including the leads, but since the effective length is shortened, the equivalent mass is equivalent to 14 g. The premise is to use a digital needle pressure gauge, but if you match it with a counterweight scale, it will be set about 15% lower.
