The world's first headshell that merges closely to the tonearm
Audio Accessory Excellence Award 2019 Special Prize
The majority of existing headshells have a structure that pulls in only the upper one pin at the connection when attaching to the tonearm, but that creates a gap on the underside, and if you fill the gap with a rubber ring, it will become elastic and cause a dull sound. There is always a gap at the connection, and even a gap of just one micron can be affected acoustically.
The MITCHAKU headshell has a seesaw structure in which the upper and lower pins pull in the horizontal pins placed between the upper and lower pins with equal force, enabling a close connection to the tonearm without gaps. As a result, it was possible to obtain the same rigidity as the arm with integrated headshell, and solid sound quality was obtained. If the horizon is adjusted correctly, the separation will be improved and a wide sound field will be reproduced.
Since it has a seesaw structure, errors are absorbed here. This ensures that the ring of the headshell and the ring of the arm are in perfect contact.
Since the ceramic material is alumina, it is a relative of ruby and sapphire. Even with ceramic, it is easy to cause resonance when the horizontal part is lengthened, so the shape is kept to the minimum necessary. It is based on the experience of the designer and the teachings directly from Isamu Ikeda, the founder of FR and IKEDA. The thickness of the finger hook is 2.5 mm to prevent resonance. The lead wire is PCOCCA annealed PCOCC. The contact with the arm is rhodium-plated for durability, and the angle of the headshell is adjustable.
The intermediate metal fittings made of ceramic and aluminum are MITCHAKU-A. The stainless steel intermediate bracket is MITCHAKU-S. The angled headshell for SAEC's WE-8000/ST is MITCHAKU-W (a substitute for SAEC's ULS-8X). This angle is reversed in MITCHAKU-0. This is a pure straight arm effect even with a bent arm, but is suitable if the arm mounting position can be moved backwards by about 30 mm. The slight difference in angle between the arms is adjusted by the mounting angle of the cartridge.
