Ultra-low-noise, discrete design phono equalizer

analog Grand Prix, Audio Excellence Award Winner

Description

LEGGIERO is a phono equalizer compatible with both MM and MC. Leggero is an Italian musical term that means light grace. This equalizer is named because it can handle the most difficult expressions for an amp, both aggressive and extruded, and light and graceful.

The MC input is equipped with a V-I-V system originally developed by Fidelix. Voltage-current conversion is performed in the first stage, and current-voltage conversion is performed in the later stage. This configuration combines extremely low input-referred noise of -156 dBV with high input impedance and high DC stability in the Giga Ω class.

Based on the RIAA, the equalizer curve can be changed from 50 Hz or less to 5 levels and 2 kHz or more to 5 levels by combining the rotary switch on the left side of the front and the rotary switch on the right, and you can choose from 25 types of curves such as RIAA, SP, AES, NAB, FFRR, OLD RCA, and COLUMBIA. Since the two switches are RIAA in the center position, they can also be used as tone controls in 2dB steps below 50Hz and 1dB steps above 2kHz.

The rear panel is equipped with a switch for MM and MC, and the bottom of the main unit is equipped with a dip switch for switching the input impedance. When the input impedance is received at 1 GΩ, the sound of the air-core MC is close to that of the air-core MC even with the iron-core MC. If the input impedance is high, even the iron-core MC will reproduce the drifting atmosphere that is close to the air-core MC. All of this amplification circuit is composed of JFET Class A operation, and the other components also use non-magnetic PRP resistors for resistors, PPS film for capacitors, which provides the highest sound quality at present, and no Chemi-Con is used in the signal circuit. These are the result of paying attention to the reproduction of subtle textures. In addition, the power supply of all stages is operated at an almost constant current to stabilize the power supply and prevent interference between stages through the power supply. For this reason, it has a delicate and supple expression and a powerful and clear bass.

The main unit and the power supply are connected with a 6P DIN connector. It is available up to 100 VAC and 120 VAC areas.
