Description

The DEGAUSS Light cartridge demagnetizer maximizes the performance of iron-core MC cartridges, MM cartridges, and MC step-up transformers by demagnetizing them. There is no distinction between L/R. Please note that this product is not effective for air-core type MC cartridges. If you are using an MM or MI type cartridge with a replaceable needle, be sure to remove the needle before proceeding so as not to affect the sound reproduction.

To demagnetize, simply turn the volume knob from "MIN" to "MAX" for about 1 second after connecting to the DEGAUSS Light, and then turn it back from "MAX" to "MIN" for about 2 seconds. On turntables where the output cable of the tone arm cannot be removed, use the supplied clip and insert it into the connection between the cartridge and the headshell to perform the volume operation.

The frequency of demagnetization should be about once every six months.

With the output terminal of the MC transformer disconnected from the amplifier, connect this unit to the input terminal and turn the volume up and down.DEGAUSS Light will be a 100 VAC (50/60 Hz) transformer type, with 100/120 Hz flashing, the same as an incandescent bulb or old fluorescent light, and a stroboscope for rotation Checking by stroboscope is possible.

Review

The effect of the DEGAUSS I recently purchased was more than I expected, and compared to the short-circuit, it dramatically reduced the tininess. The DEGAUSS is much less tinny than the short-circuit, and the short-circuit returns to the original state in a short period of time, but this has not happened at all so far, which is very helpful. I also tried demagnetizing the MC step-up transformer I have, and it seemed to increase the resolution of the micro level to about 70% of LIRICO's, which is also a great effect. However, using LIRICO, I realized that there is such a thing as "the sound of a transformer. I really appreciate LIRICO for its straight, well-balanced and noise-free amplification.
