For listeners seeking magical transparency.
300B with the magic and transparency of wire mesh anode tubes
EML 300B-Mesh is a vacuum tube designed for those who seek the ultimate beauty of triode sound. Delicate yet richly expressive, this tube provides a sound of transparency and depth, allowing the nuances of music to come vividly to life. The EML 300B-Mesh is the ideal choice for listeners seeking subtle and realistic sound quality.
The "Magic" of Mesh Anodes
The most distinctive feature of EML 300B-Mesh is its "mesh anode. The mesh anode is a structure in which a wire mesh material is used for the inner anode of the vacuum tube, and the excellent attenuation characteristics created by this structure realize a "magical sound. The circular structure of a normal solid plate anode causes ringing due to the "bell effect," which may result in unnecessary resonance in the sound, but the mesh anode suppresses this ringing and produces a pure sound.
The EML 300B-Mesh with mesh anodes therefore reproduces a more transparent soundstage and enables realistic stereo reproduction that is faithful to the original sound source. This accentuates the depth of sound and spatial expression, giving the listener a sense of realism as if the music were being played right in front of them.
The Best Balance of Sound and Power
Due to the characteristics of vacuum tubes, the balance between sound quality and power output is important, and the EML 300B-Mesh is designed to emphasize sound quality over high power output, and when combined with particularly efficient speakers (106dB or higher), it provides rich volume and beautiful sound quality even at low output. The unique transparency and subtle sound of the wire mesh construction provides a musical experience that envelops the listener.
Precautions for use
EML 300B-Mesh is recommended to be used with lower anode loss than normal 300B vacuum tubes. Observe the following operating conditions for optimum performance.
- Recommended anode loss: 22W
- Maximum anode loss: 28W (maximum 40W for standard 300B)
For use with standard 300B amplifiers, please make sure that the anode loss of the amplifier is 26W or less; exceeding 36W may cause degradation in a short period of time.
Summary of EML 300B-Mesh Features
- Mesh anode structure: Transparent soundstage and clear, pure reproduced sound
- For low to medium power output: Highly efficient speaker with outstanding sound quality characteristics
- Not recommended for headphones or preamplifiers: standard 300B recommended for applications where small noise is a concern
For listeners who seek the beauty of triode sound
The EML 300B-Mesh brings out even the subtlest expression of music with its delicate, transparent sound. This tube is a must-try for those who want to experience a realistic and profound world of sound, as if the music were alive.
EML 300B-Mesh Vacuum Tube Replacement Conditions
EML 300B-Mesh vacuum tubes can be used in place of standard 300B vacuum tubes under the following conditions
- Bias and anode loss: Anode loss must be reduced to 22 watts standard or 28 watts absolute maximum (see table below for details).
- Filament Current: It is important that the amplifier be able to supply a minimum filament current of 1.4 amps. Failure to meet this requirement will result in heater voltage dropping below 5V and possible tube failure.
- Vacuum tube size: The 300B-Mesh is a "long anode" specification with a 25% longer anode than the standard 300B. Therefore, the physical size is equivalent to EML's 300B-XLS vacuum tube, which is larger than the standard 300B. The glass length of the vacuum tube is not a problem for sealed amplifiers, but please check the end of the datasheet for detailed dimensions.
- Anode heat dissipation characteristics: Mesh anodes have lower heat dissipation characteristics than solid plate anodes. Therefore, the maximum anode dissipation of 300B-Mesh in continuous use should be limited to 22 watts typically and 28 watts absolutely maximum. These are standard operating conditions used by many Japanese amplifiers, but some amplifiers operate above these values, so if you are unsure of the anode loss of your amplifier, we recommend that you check with the amplifier manufacturer beforehand.
By meeting these conditions, you can safely enjoy the transparent sound quality and high performance of the EML 300B-Mesh.
