Heavy-duty housing made of 5052 aluminum alloy 20mm thick, oxygen-free copper 5mm thick, and REAL SCHILD vibration-proof structure, planned to be equipped with a 58-contact attenuator.

Description

Unfinished housing scheduled to be equipped with a 58-contact attenuator

This product isASTORThis is an unfinished casing for a passive controller, which was manufactured by the company and was planned to be equipped with a 58-contact attenuator.

This is not a complete passive controller, and the attenuator unit and front knob are not included. Therefore, it cannot currently be used as a device with a volume adjustment function.

This product is sold to people who can prepare the attenuator and wiring materials separately and do the work of making, modifying, and incorporating the product themselves. Not for those who want to use the finished product as is,ASTORThis product is currently on sale for those who want to build their own passive controller based on the volume-input type casing.

Heavyweight base of the same size and weight as VR-CN34VIP

This product uses a housing of the same size and weight as the VR-CN34VIP, a model equipped with a 34-contact attenuator. Weight is 18kg. Although it is an unfinished product without an attenuator, the casing itself has the same amount of material as a completed machine.

While a passive controller is a simple device that does not have an amplification circuit, it is a product whose sound is easily influenced by contacts, wiring, terminals, ground, housing rigidity, and anti-vibration treatment. This product is a very luxurious base for a homemade product, with thorough materials and structure given to the basic casing.

Highly rigid housing made of 5052 aluminum alloy 20mm thick

The casing uses 5052 aluminum alloy. It is made of extremely thick aluminum material with a thickness of 20mm, and has a rigidity and mass that is incomparable to typical homemade cases.

This thick aluminum chassis is not simply meant to house the equipment as an exterior. It is used as an important structural material for sound quality, suppressing chassis ringing and unwanted vibrations, while stably holding the terminals and internal wiring.

Oxygen-Free Copper 5mm Thick Used Inside

Inside the chassis, 5mm-thick oxygen-free copper material is used. As can be seen in the photos, copper material is incorporated inside, forming a base for terminals and ground structure. All the copper used is oxygen-free. By combining the rigidity of thick 5052 aluminum alloy with the mass and conductivity of oxygen-free copper, it achieves a very high level of quality as a chassis for passive controllers.

Although it is not a finished product, in terms of the amount of internal material used, it is clearly different from typical DIY cases. For those who want to refine the signal path and ground handling themselves, this is a major attractive point.

REAL SCHILD 2.5mm Thick Vibration-Resistant Material Used Inside

The inside of the chassis uses REAL SCHILD vibration-resistant material. The blue vibration-resistant material visible in the photos is applied inside, and in addition to the 20mm thick 5052 aluminum alloy and 5mm thick oxygen-free copper, further processing has been done to suppress unwanted vibrations.

For passive devices without active circuits, sound is directly influenced not by the tone of amplification stages, but by the quality of the terminals, wiring, chassis, and vibration treatment. Although this product is unfinished, it has a structure that considers the chassis itself as a sound-quality component.

RCA Input/Output Terminals and GND Terminal

On the back, RCA input terminals, RCA output terminals, and a GND terminal are arranged. In the photos, INPUT, GND, and OUTPUT terminals can be seen for both LEFT and RIGHT channels.

However, since the attenuator section is not installed, the signal path as a finished product is not yet determined. When actually using it, the purchaser needs to perform circuit design, wiring, continuity checks, and operation verification.

No Attenuator or Knob Included

This product does not include a 58-contact attenuator unit or a front knob. The interior shown in the product photos is the chassis state before installing the attenuator.

For actual use, it is necessary to separately prepare attenuators, knobs, wiring materials, fixing parts, etc., as well as perform internal wiring, installation, continuity confirmation, left and right channel wiring confirmation, and grounding.

Since this product is not a finished product, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and performance guarantees after completion are not included. Please consider this only if you have the knowledge and working environment to create your own audio.

Currently sold product with matte black finish

The exterior has a matte black finish. The calm black casing is combined with an oxygen-free copper plate on the front.ASTORIt has a very solid appearance.

It is not a strong gloss like piano black, but has a fearless and calm texture finish. This is an extremely rare self-made base, with an internal oxygen-free copper structure, REAL SCHILD vibration isolation material, and a 18.2kg heavyweight housing.

Current sale item with no warranty and no returns

This product is unfinished. We do not check the operation, sound output, or guarantee the performance of the finished product. There is no manufacturer warranty, no store warranty, and no repair support.

Additionally, due to the nature of the product being unfinished and sold as is, we cannot accept returns or exchanges after purchase. Please consider this only if you understand the condition and can process, wire, and install it at your own risk.

This product is a one-off, self-made base for those who find value in completing it themselves by making use of the rare housing material and structure, rather than the security of a finished product.

Review

Features as a DIY Base

This product should not be evaluated as a finished device, but rather seen as an unfinished chassis for DIY or modification materials. Its main feature lies in its structure, which combines a heavyweight chassis of the same size and 18.2 kg as the VR-CN34VIP with 20mm thick 5052 aluminum alloy, 5mm thick oxygen-free copper, and 2.5mm thick REAL SCHILD vibration-damping material.

Since the chassis was made with plans to install a 58-contact attenuator, unlike typical simple cases, it is a resource-heavy base designed to house a high-quality volume control mechanism.

On the other hand, the current unit does not come with the attenuator unit or knobs. It cannot be used as a completed product with volume control, so selection, installation, wiring, and operation checks of parts are required separately.

When viewed as a DIY base, a chassis equipped with an oxygen-free copper internal structure, REAL SCHILD vibration-damping material, RCA terminals, and GND terminals is very appealing. It is suitable for those who want to thoroughly refine passive controllers or line attenuators, including terminals, wiring, grounding, chassis, and vibration-damping treatment.

This is a special sale item for those who find value in finishing it themselves, making use of the rare chassis material and structure, rather than seeking the peace of mind of a finished product.
