For listeners looking for magical clarity
300B with the magic and transparency of wire mesh anode tube
The EML 300B-Mesh is a vacuum tube designed for those who pursue the ultimate beauty of triode sound. Delicate yet expressive, these tubes provide a clear and deep sound that brings out the nuances of the music vividly. This characteristic stands out especially in combination with low-to-medium-power amplifiers, maximizing the performance of the speakers. The EML 300B-Mesh is the ideal choice for listeners looking for delicate and realistic sound quality.
The "magic" of mesh anodes
The main feature of the EML 300B-Mesh is its "mesh anode". A mesh anode is a structure that uses wire mesh material for the anode inside the vacuum tube, and the excellent damping characteristics created by this structure achieve a "magical sound". In a normal solid plate anode, the circular structure can cause ringing due to the "bell effect", which can cause extra resonance in the sound, but with a mesh anode, this ringing is suppressed and a pure sound is obtained.
For this reason, the EML 300B-Mesh with mesh anode reproduces a more transparent soundstage and enables realistic stereo reproduction that is faithful to the original sound source. This accentuates the depth and spatial expression of the sound, giving you a sense of realism as if the music is being played right in front of you.
The best balance of sound and power
Due to the nature of vacuum tubes, it is important to balance sound quality and output. The EML 300B-Mesh is designed for sound quality over high output, especially when combined with highly efficient speakers (106dB or more), resulting in rich volume and beautiful sound quality even with low output. The unique transparency and delicate sound of the wire mesh structure provide a musical experience that envelops the listener.
Usage notes
EML 300B-Mesh is recommended for use with lower anode losses than regular 300B vacuum tubes. Optimal performance is achieved by observing the following operating conditions:
- Recommended Anode Loss: 22W
- Maximum anode loss: 28W (standard 300B maximum)
For use with a normal 300B amplifier, make sure that the anode loss of the amplifier is 26W or less. If it exceeds 36W, it may cause deterioration in a short period of time, so be careful.
Summary of features of EML 300B-Mesh
- Mesh anode structure: Transparent soundstage and clear, pure reproduction sound
- For low to medium power: highly efficient speakers with outstanding sound quality characteristics
- Not recommended for headphones or preamps: For applications where small noise is a concern, the standard 300B is recommended
For listeners who pursue the beauty of the sound of the triode
The EML 300B-Mesh brings out the subtle expressions of music with its delicate and transparent sound. It is a vacuum tube that you should try for those who want to experience a real and deep world of sound, as if music is breathing.
EML 300B-Mesh Tube Replacement Conditions
EML 300B-Mesh vacuum tubes can be used interchangeably with standard 300B tubes if the following conditions are met:
- Bias and Anode Loss: The anode loss should be reduced to 22 watts as a standard or 28 watts as an absolute maximum (see table below for details).
- Filament current: It is important that the amplifier can deliver a minimum of 1.4 amperes of filament current. If this is not met, the heater voltage may drop below 5V and the vacuum tube may fail.
- Tube size: The 300B-Mesh has a "long anode" specification with a 25% longer anode than the standard 300B. For this reason, the physical size is equivalent to EML's 300B-XLS vacuum tube, but larger than the regular 300B. Even in the case of a sealed amplifier, the length of the tube glass is not a problem, but please check the end of the data sheet for detailed dimensions.
- Anode heat dissipation characteristics: Mesh anodes have lower heat dissipation properties than solid plate anodes. Therefore, the maximum anode loss during continuous use of the 300B-Mesh should be limited to 22 watts typically and an absolute maximum of 28 watts. This is a standard usage condition employed by many Japan amplifiers, but some amplifiers will operate above this number, so if you are unsure of your amplifier's anode loss, it is best to check with your amplifier manufacturer beforehand.
By meeting these conditions, you can safely enjoy the crystal clear sound quality and high performance of the EML 300B-Mesh.
