Q-tron Audio was founded in Sweden in 1976 by Hans Beijner, who was involved in electronic circuit design and product management at Ericsson, and his brother Ulf. For many years, they developed and manufactured advanced electronic equipment for the Swedish military and industry. With a deep interest in tube amplifiers, they focused on designing OTL amplifiers using 6C33C tubes and completed their first product in 2000.
