The MK3 had a unique elongated shape, but the MK4 is now the same size as the compact half-size series. The MK3 was a popular model that was widely loved in Europe and the United States, as well as in Asia including Korea.
Japan, the country of production, is probably the least known and unsold. Bakun Products is so popular that there are forums on audio sites in Europe and the United States, but in fact, it is so well-known and popular that it is fought in court over trademark registration issues in certain countries, like Matsuzaka beef.
In Japan, the reason is that we have not advertised at all, but recently we have been featured in audio magazines, and we are happy that our name recognition has gradually increased.
I digress, but it's HDA-5210MK4. The shape has changed from the MK3, but the sound has become even more sophisticated. Originally, its very good performance spread by word of mouth and became popular overseas, but it has gone even further.
Starting with the MK4, the SATRI-IC is only UL specification for all models, the attenuator is now available in two types, a metal-coated resistor and a non-inductive winding resistor, and the headphone amplifier HDA-5210 no longer has a normal volume specification.
The transparency of the sound is so high that you can see everywhere, and Eiichi Otaki, who extends to the high frequencies as if it were transparent, is impressive. The grain of the sound is very fine, delicate and light. The contours of the sound are solid and there is no ambiguity because the background is very, very quiet. In the MK3 era, the background was too quiet and noise that would normally not bother you could be heard, which is not the case with MK4, but it is just quiet. When recording in the studio, you can hear Mika Nakajima's breath through the pop guard of the microphone, and you can also hear the slight inhalation of her breath at the beginning of singing. There is no sound distortion or noise. If I had to say it, it would not emphasize the sound or do anything, but would convey it directly, so those who prefer deep bass may feel that the bass is unsatisfactory, but normally it should not bother you at all.
This time, I listened to and compared the voltage output and the current output from the voltage input, and the voltage output was satisfactory enough, but when I changed it to the current output, the outline, brightness, and elongation of the sound increased as if a thin haze had been removed. However, I think that this is a place where tastes are divided. For some people, voltage output may seem just right.
By using a high-performance attenuator, even if the volume is lowered, the sound does not lose weight and the sound quality does not deteriorate, so you can enjoy music even at a low volume in a quiet environment.
Also, as with the Bakun sound as a whole, there are no strange piercing spikes in the sound, so you won't get tired of listening even if you listen to it for a long time.
