Q-tron Audio was founded in Sweden in 1976 by Hans Beijner, who worked in electronic circuit design and product management at Ericsson, and his brother Ulf. Over the years, the company has developed and manufactured sophisticated electronic equipment for the Swedish military and industry, but its deep interest in tube amplifiers led them to design an OTL amplifier using 6C33C tubes, which they completed in 2000 with their first product. The addition of distortion correction and noise reduction technologies has further enhanced its performance.
Q-tron's OTL amplifiers do not use conventional output transformers and deliver ultra-clear, expansive sound. The clarity of the bass and treble is especially noticeable, providing a sound quality that is distinctly different from conventional tube and transistor amplifiers. the sound quality has a warmth comparable to that of a SET amplifier, yet is not tiring.
